Home Made Liquid Laundry Soap

Is it just me, maybe because I do laundry 5 days a week to stay on top of it all thanks to having a large family, or does laundry detergent just disappear too quickly and cost WAY too much money?! Well, I found the solution to that... I make my own! I honestly think it works better than any name brand soap I've bought in the past and the ingredients will make enough soap for around 575 loads for only 5 or 6 bucks... can't beat that! I'm going to list the ingredients and instructions below just in case anyone wants to give it a shot :-)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
* 1 bar of soap (any kind will do which means you can choose from a variety of scents but I choose Fels Naptha from the laundry section in the store. It has awesome stain removal power).
* 1 cup of Borax
* 1 cup of washing soda
* A big pot that holds 2 gallons (or 2 separate 1 gallon pots. If you choose to do this than remember to put half the ingredients in one pot and the other half in the other pot).
* A grater
* A funnel
* A long spoon
* 2 empty gallon jugs or containers (I use Minute Maid juice containers and just cleaned them out really well. You could use old gallon milk containers, too).

DIRECTIONS:

* Grate your soap into big pot (remember, if you're using 2 one gallon pots, grate half the soap in one pot and half the soap in the other).
* Fill one of your 1 gallon containers with water and pour into pot with grated soap. Cook until the grated soap dissolves.
* Add the Borax and washing soda
* Bring to a boil and it will coagulate (so cool LoL!)
* Turn off the heat and add one gallon of cold water. Stir well.
* Using a funnel, pour your detergent into your containers

Now you have 2 gallons of home made laundry detergent! Quick, easy, kind of fun, and saves A LOT of money! Good luck! :-)
