Another Monday
Back to doing my usual while Andy works. It's only almost 8:30 AM and I've already thrown a load of laundry in the dryer and another in the washer, gotten Rylie breakfast (Taylor's being nasty about it and won't tell me what she wants from the choices I've given her so she gets nothing until she can, first of all, answer me and also do it without whining. Yesterday Andy was home and we took the girls to Chuck E. Cheese here in Hagerstown. Rylie had a great time but of course Taylor got into an attitude for literally no reason so I set her in the booth at our table and she literally sat there the entire time. We tried talking with her to find out what was wrong and she'd turn the other way. So basically she ruined her own time.. typical Taylor LoL. So, Rylie, Andy, and I ran around riding rides and playing games. We brought them back for their nap and later that evening we ran out to the pet store to get some things for our fish and I went to Borders to get some books. I got the book about the Duggars. It's SOOO good and interesting. It's weird how much our views are alike.. not that I want a billion kids though LoL. They have a very interesting story. Since I've been struggling with Taylor so much I wanted to find a book with some "tips". I've recently been given some, honestly, semi-cruel advice that I refuse to use on my kids and I'm amazed at the Duggar's family; how close knit they are and how respectful and well-behaved their kids are, so I figured picking up their book might give me some ideas. Well, I'm just now getting into how she corrects her children but it's more my style, that's for sure. Using gentle discipline and God's love as guidance, not tons of spanking (which hasn't gotten us anywhere anyway) and screaming. I'm not opposed to spanking if an action warrants it but it's my last option. There are a few other Christian books about parenting that Michelle recommends in the back on how to handle strong willed children and different techniques and ideas that I'll have to look into to see if they'd work for us. I also picked up a new devotional Bible for moms and wives. It's great so far! I thought a good idea was to begin my day with reading a few Bible verses and some inspirational things in this devotional and to pray. I've neglected praying before I start my day in the past. The next thing on my list of "bettering myself" is to make a prayer journal. I have certain things I'd like to remember to pray about and with my busy, hectic day I usually forget when a need has occurred that I'd like to pray for or I'm so tired by night time that as soon as my head hits the pillow I fall asleep in the middle of praying LoL! So, I've decided that to better organize what I wanted to talk with the Lord about (and have more of that time while the girls are napping) would be a good idea. Anyway, keeping praying for my sanity, clarity, and how to handle each situation that arises with my strong willed diva because it's a challenge to know what to do :)
